The OGMS cross country teams delivered an outstanding performance at the LCC Wildcats Cross Country Championship, held on October 29, 2025, despite the challenges posed by the Santa Ana Winds and the heat.
In the 6th Grade Girls' division, Sonya Covarrubias stood out with a remarkable time of 6:28, securing 2nd place overall. Camila Phillips-Nuno also had an impressive showing, finishing 12th with a time of 7:14. Jeslin Ramos crossed the finish line in 7:42, while Haley Borge completed the course in 8:46.
The 7th Grade Girls saw Valentina Serna place 5th with a time of 7:12, contributing to the team’s strong showing.
However, it was the 8th Grade Girls who truly shone in their race. Amalia Mayoral, Chriselle Barela, Alyna Sarabia, and Natalia Nuñez all demonstrated fierce determination. Victoria Cintora finished in 19th place with a time of 7:58, while Chloe Christiansen made her season debut, clocking in at 7:52. Leyla Zamora achieved a season-best finish, coming in 12th with a time of 7:29. Monserrat Osuna continued her impressive momentum, taking 6th place with a speedy 6:34.
On the boys’ side, Gustavo Mayoral completed the 6th Grade race in 8:24, while Edgar Osuna impressed with a rapid time of 6:26. The 7th Grade Boys displayed their strength, with Carlos Ramos claiming 10th place at 6:46, and Erik Pevatov dominating the field once again by winning his fourth consecutive race with an exceptional time of 5:44.
In the 8th Grade Boys' competition, Ivan Sanchez ran a strong first race with a time of 7:20. Anthony Leon Rangel turned in a standout performance, finishing 6th with a remarkable time of 6:06.
As the regular season draws to a close, the OGMS cross country teams will continue to train on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings, preparing for the upcoming track season with meets scheduled toward the end of the year. The season has been marked by consistent improvement from the runners, showcasing the dedication and tenacity of their small but mighty school.
The OGMS Eagles have truly embodied the spirit of determination, talent, and sportsmanship, with their mantra, "Eagles Soar with Pride!" resonating throughout the season.
