Oak Grove Achieves Remarkable Results at the Hillsdale Invitational

The Oak Grove Middle School cross-country teams showcased incredible talent and determination at the Hillsdale Invitational, held at Hillsdale Middle School. With eight schools participating, including Hillsdale MS, Greenfield MS, Los Coches Creek MS, Lakeside MS, Tierra Del Sol MS, Joan McQueen MS, Magnolia Science Academy, and Oak Grove, our athletes proved they were ready to rise to the occasion.

In the 6th Grade girls race, Zoe McAllister marked her presence by achieving a personal record. Haley Borge excelled in her first race.  Her teammate, Camila Phillips-Nuno, finished 7th, while Sonya Covarrubias continued her impressive season with a strong 3rd place finish, marking her as a top contender in every race this season. Jeslin Ramos rounded out the team's effort with a commendable 15th place.

The Eagle 7th Grade Girls team put forth an inspiring performance, finishing in 4th place in their first race together. Their dedication and hard work were evident throughout the competition.

The 8th Grade girls squad had a standout performance, with Amalia Mayoral, Chriselle Barela, and Alyna Sarabia all hitting personal records. The team excelled, placing four runners in the top 25. Monse Osuna led the group by finishing 7th, with Leyla Zamora in 13th, Victoria Cintora in 17th, and Natalia Nunez completing the pack in 25th.

In the 6th Grade boys race, Yasiel Moreno competed fiercely in his first race, while Gustavo Mayoral also achieved a personal record. Edgar Qsuna led the team, capturing 7th place with a strong showing.

The 7th Grade boys team shined brightly, particularly Carlos Ramos, who displayed tremendous grit and determination to finish 7th. Erik Pevatov was the star of the race, taking 1st place with a stunning performance that left him finishing 55 seconds ahead of his closest competitor.

Wrapping up the day's events, the 8th Grade boys demonstrated resilience and spirit. Armando Covarrubias ran his best race yet, showing great perseverance. Anthony Leon Rangel achieved a personal record and finished in 15th, while Yahir Coss placed 6th with a gutsy performance. Jesse Arias took home a medal by finishing 3rd, showcasing the strength of our team.

The Hillsdale Invitational was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our young athletes, with numerous personal records and strong finishes across all grades. Oak Grove Middle School should be proud of these talented individuals who continue to inspire their peers and embody the spirit of teamwork and competition. Our regular season comes to an end this Wednesday at the 19th Annual Los Coches Creek Wildcats Cross Country Championship.
